HISTORY

The foundation club's first President was Mr. W. Hayes, elected to the position in 1924. In 1938 the Women's foundation club was formed with Mrs. F. Howie being elected as the first Ladies President. The Club venue was originally financed by a share offer to raise 2,000 Pounds; 400 shares @ 5 Pounds each. The club has been constantly trading and fielding teams since.

We've had many Championship winning teams throughout the years, acquitting ourselves well within the Bowling community. We have had our fair share of notable players and sporting icons through our doors, a few in particular come to mind, Herb Manglesdorf,  Ron Wiggins and Jack Hawkins.

There have been quite a few changes to the Club since the beginning, and many decisions by various Boards to advance the Clubs interests. No doubt there will be many more to come. The next few years will be, I believe, exciting and integral to the Clubs ongoing success. Technology is allowing the game to be viewed by millions around the world without the need for T.V. crews via live streaming from a clubs greens cameras, even from a mobile phone. Green technology has leaped ahead with artificial surfaces becoming better and better.

However, one thing remains constant......the camaraderie, good times and sheer joy of being out on the Greens with mates, fellow bowlers and visitors.

On a personal note, I'm honoured and thankful to be a part of Club Cronulla and sincerely wish everyone associated with bowls all the very best. Heckle.
